Prepare a way for the Lord’

As we enter the 2nd week of Advent the figure of John the Baptist is put before us in the gospel of today.  John, Isaiah and Mary (the mother of Jesus) are the three great Advent examples put before us as we approach the feast of Christmas.  John’s message is to repent of our sins to prepare a place in our hearts for the Lord.  So these days let us make some time to reflect on the great mystery of Christmas (God’s love for His people) and spend some time with God each day.  There will be many opportunities for the Sacrament of forgiveness as we approach Christmas with a special penance service on the Friday before, and confessions all day  on Saturday 23rd from 11a.m. to 7p.m.
