Rest in Peace

Lay Readers

It is right and proper that we should have our thoughts today on the celebration of the birth of Jesus.

Open up the door of your heart for he is knocking and we are free to say come in or not. Mary allowed him into her life and in a unique manner because she became his mother.

There may be many, too many, who shut God out of their lives and say No when he knocks. He himself is a generous host; he opens his door to us, always ready to welcome us, and when we enter his world he has gifts, priceless gifts, for each one of us.

Whichever way we think about it, either the door of your heart and your cry to him to come in, or whether you think of his door inviting us, welcoming us to enter into his abode, Mary is always an example, because she welcomed him into her life with those words: 93Be it done unto me according to thy word.92 Her saying yes to God, brought her Son - his Son - into our world.

So this is a day to deepen our faith in the fact that Jesus Christ, true God and true man, was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit.
