Castlebar Swimming Club hosted the Connacht Championships sponsored by permanent TSB on Sunday 30/3/03. Joan O’ Mahony, President of Swim Ireland attended the gala which attracted a huge entry from all the top clubs in Connacht including Athlone, Claremorris, Galway, Longford, Sligo, Tuam and Westport.
The highlights of a very long and tough day of swimming for the Castlebar club were as follows:

Team Relay Events
The senior boys relay team of Ciaran Garrick, Cian Holland Jimmy Wiseman and Darragh Quinn also took gold in the 4x 50m Team medley event. The junior girls relay team of Fionnuala Quinn , Aishling Bourke, Natalie Bourke and Katie Tuohy came Third and took bronze in the 4x 50m Team medley event.

The Swimming club are very grateful for the continued sponsorship of this event and thank permanent TSB most sincerely and Annette Murray for making the presentations to medal winners. Also special mention to Des Brett and the Connacht Swim Ireland Committee and officials for making this a very successful gala Thank you also to the Parents committee and Linda McCaffrey. Thank you to all the swimmers who represented the club with such pride and success and to the coaches Francois, Jackie, Marian and Joe for the excellent performances of these swimmers.
