Castlebar Swimming Club would like to extend a hearty congratulations to swimmer Nicholas Quinn, who continues to do his former club - and his country - proud with his performance at the World University Games in South Korea earlier this month. Nicholas swam his fastest 100m breaststroke to date to win his heat, and secure a place in the semi-final. His time of 1:01.84 shows remarkable achievement at this level and is a boost to the 2016 Olympic hopeful. On that note, he was one of eleven young swimmers who took a break from training recently to visit the Olympic Council of Ireland offices in Howth, Co. Dublin, where they were given an overview of the facilities in the upcoming Rio Olympics.
Nicholas was also the unanimous choice as the winner of April's Young Sports Star in The Connaught Telegraph, which described him as "a standout athlete from a very young age." Well done, Nicholas - we are all rooting for you!
