Swimmers from Castlebar Swimming Club excelled at a very competitive and well attended Connacht Minor Schools Championships, which was held at Claremorris pool on Sunday 19th October.
The club took a total of five gold medals, three silver and three bronze in individual events. Two team relay bronze medals were also secured. Many swam personal best times for their events and ten swimmers qualified to represent their schools in the Trinity Pool Donaghmede on November 14/15th.

The Girls U10 medley team relay of Sally Cunniffe, Deirdre McGauran, Sarah Granahan and Katie McManamon took bronze and went on to take a second bronze in the Freestyle relay.
The Boys U 12 Medley relay team of Patrick Sweeney, Tony Sweeney, James Sweeney and Nicholas Quinn had a great race just narrowly missing a medal but with a good enough time to make the National Final in Donaghmede.
