A flying start for Castlebar swimmers at B & C gala.
The first gala of the season was held for the Connacht region,northern area in Castlebar on Sunday 13th October. The gala featured freestyle and breaststroke and included clubs from Claremorris, Ballina, Aughagower, Sligo, Athlone as well as Castlebar. The club scooped a total of 24 medals (10 gold, 8 silver, 3 Bronze) in individual events and 1 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze in relay events

The U 11 Girls B team took bronze:
Ita Heneghan, Aoife Mc Hale, Ellen Cahill, Vicky Staunton.

RECOGNITION FOR CASTLEBAR SWIMMERS
The achievements of Castlebar swimmers were recognised at a function held by Connaught region, Swim Ireland in Galway organised by Peter Brennan on Wednesday 9th October 2002.
At the Irish Open Championships in Lisburn last July Cian Holland did the club proud by winning Junior Gold in the 200m Fly and Bronze in the 100m Fly and the relay team of Cian Holland, Ciaran Garrick, Joseph Moran and Darragh Quinn took bronze. A commemorative piece of Galway crystal was presented to the swimmers by Des Brett, president of Connaught Region,Swim Ireland.
