MAYO INTERCULTURAL ACTION (MIA)

are organising a

CANDLELIGHT VIGIL

in solidarity with

THE PALESTINIAN PEOPLE

The Market Square, Castlebar

Fri 16 Jan at 6 pm

Mayo Intercultural Action (MIA) are calling on you to attend a one hour candlelight vigil on Friday next (16 Jan 2009) in Castlebar at 6 pm to show solidarity with the Palestinian people.  This is your opportunity to express your concerns and opposition to the escalating humanitarian crisis and the ongoing slaughter of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

With the death toll now in excess of 900 and no end in sight it is time for all of us to stand up and be counted.  The words of Francis Bacon come to mind - ‘the hottest places in hell are reserved for those who in times of moral crisis maintain their neutrality .  If this is not a 'time of moral crisis' then what is?

It is now up to us to make our voices heard. Please join us in The Market Square, Castlebar this Friday 16 Jan at 6pm.  Treasa Ni Cheannabháín, sean nós singer and organiser of the Palestine Children’s Charity will be the special guest at the event. Fáilte roimh chách. Bring a candle and a friend! For more information, please contact Thérèse at 086 3483414 or the MIA office at 094 904 4511.

Look forward to seeing you on Friday next!
