It is that time of year again with plans in place for the Sea2summit which takes place again Saturday the 9th of November in Westport, County Mayo.
Road safety will be promoted at this year's event with the organisers linking up with the Road Safety Officer for Mayo County Council and Westport town council. All finishers will receive high-visibility items and a road safety campaign to remind motorists to overtake cyclists with care will be promoted at the event.
There will be over 1,500 cyclists on the roads taking part in this event so motorists are asked to overtake cyclists with care and give at least 1.5m space between the vehicle and cyclist. Signs have been erected along the race route and a video clip promotes at the event.
Speaking recently race director Paul O'Brien was very anxious to point out that the Sea2summit race is an event that is open to all. "While we attract most of the top athletes from around the country it is an event that appeals to all those who wish to run, jog or walk the scenic and varied course. One does not need to be a member of a club or group to participate," he said.
So get into gear and make 2013 the year that you cheered on hundreds of people to complete this exciting event, with celebrities like Bressie, Rob Heffernan & David Gillick taking on the challenge.
