The 100km cycle organised last May by Mayo Pink Ribbon raised a staggering €60,175.55 for the National Breast Cancer Research Institute. 200 cyclists participated in the cycle while a further 20 women took part under the Pink Ribbon banner in the Mayo Mini Marathon the next day. The funds collected were presented to Prof Michael Kerin, Director of NBCRI, in the Harlequin Hotel on Fri Sept 10th. The money raised will go directly to research into breast cancer as it will be used to fund two post doctoral research fellowships at the institute for a year.
