Community Spirit is alive and well in Castlebar. On Easter Saturday last, a large number of volunteers joined with the residents of An Sruthán and Cois Abhainn to plant fruit trees at the Organic Community Garden. The sun shone and a great day was had by all. The children and young people helping on the day also took part in an Easter Egg hunt at the garden. This event was organised by Mayo Sustainability Forum and is part of an ongoing project to plant fruit and nut trees in public spaces in Castlebar. It is funded under the Agenda 21 Environmental Partnership Fund. Some weeks ago, trees were planted by volunteers at Lough Lannagh and many resident associations, schools, etc are also availing of this unique opportunity.
