A bit of nostalgia from 1994.
The photo shows from left John D.Clark, Josh Lynam, RIP., Michael O'Sullivan, Dermot Somers, Gearoidin Ni Ghruineil, Joe McDermott, Ernie Sweeney, and Noel O'Neill, at a meeting of the Mayo Historical & Archaeological Society in the Imperial Hotel, Castlebar, on Wednesday, February 2nd, 1994.
The meeting was addressed by Dermot Somers, a member of the successful Irish expedition to Everest in 1993.
Dermot Somers is a well known, mountaineer, author, and television personalty, born in Tremane, Co. Roscommon. The talk attracted a capacity audience. The photo was taken by the late Gerry Cribbin of Ballyhaunis, a popular member of the society.
