A new book - Michael Davitt; Freelance radical and frondeur - which takes an in-depth look at the lesser known aspects of the Straide born patriot’s political career, was launched in the Davitt Museum, Straide, by Mr. Enda Kenny TD.

The author is Belfastman Dr. Laurence Marley, who received his Doctorate in History at NUI, Galway, where he was the holder of the Michael Davitt Fellowship. He has taught modern history at NUIG and has lectured in history at various American universities.

The book is published by Four Courts Press, Dublin, ISBN:978-1-84682-066-3
