The first salmon of the 2009 season on the River Moy was caught on Friday, 6 March, by Ballina angler, Pappy Marshall. Pappy was fishing on the Ballina Salmon Anglers’ water, above the weir in Ballina, when the 11.5 lbs. (5.2 kg) sparkling fresh fish took the worm.

The first salmon of the 2009 season on the River Moy was caught today, Friday, 6 March, by Ballina angler, Pappy Marshall.

Water levels on the Moy are well down for the time of year and fishing conditions should remain favourable throughout the coming weeks. Anglers are reminded that the free fishing on the Ridge Pool continues until the first salmon is caught there.
