River Moy
The River Moy fished well throughout the week, with the Moy Fishery yielding nine salmon, four being taken on the Ridge Pool including two for visiting French angler Gerard Groult, who had one of 5.2lbs and one of 8.9lbs and one each for Claude Lemeslie and Jean Cardon also from France. The Cathedral Beat produced two, including a first ever salmon for twelve year old Fergus McDermott-Quinn of 6lbs 10oz, who was taking part in the Juvenile Angling Day on the Moy run as part of National Fisheries Awareness week. Congratulations to Fergus on his achievement.

Ballina Salmon Anglers' water fished well and upstream Byrne's Fishery and Armstrong's also yielded good numbers. At Gannon's fishery an increased angling effort paid off, with thirty salmon being caught for the week, where Yann Bouanchaud and party of seven anglers from France had twenty salmon for the week. Rinanney also fished very well, with over twenty salmon being caught including a nice fish of 12lbs for Horst Weber, Germany, and two salmon of 12lbs and 13lbs for Claude Ranec, France, taken on the prawn.
The Cloongee fishery also fished well for the week, with over 22 salmon reported including two of 8lbs and 10lbs for Andre Rolland, France, two for Fabrice Perinet, France and one of 6lbs for Francis Higginbotham, N.Ireland taken on the bubble and fly.

The East Mayo Anglers' water fished well over the week, with visiting anglers again enjoying success on the fly, with Reto Coutalides, Switzerland, landing two, Mark Toquard, France also landing two, including one of 10lbs and Claude Grosjean, Belgium catching one of 6lbs.

Carrowmore Lake
Excellent angling was had on Carrowmore, with a total of twenty-seven salmon being caught over the week, eleven of which were returned and averaged between 6lbs and 8lbs. Martin Mc Donnell, Glenamoy, had a fine salmon of 10lbs while Tony Coakley, Cork, had two fish. Declan Dooley, Dublin, had a good week, boating seven salmon and returning five. Rory Murray, Dublin, had four salmon, returning one while Kevin O'Sullivan and party, Waterville, had three salmon and also a fine sea trout of 4lbs which was sportingly released.

Ballin Lough

Fishing on Ballin Lough was productive over the past week, with a total of 35 anglers catching a total of one hundred and forty rainbow trout of which 116 were returned. Matt Foley and friend, Roscommon, had seventeen trout, releasing 13 with their best fish at 2.5lbs. Dublin Anglers Tony and Eugene McGrattan boated a total of 18 trout, returning fourteen of these, with their best fish 4.9lbs. Willie Scully and friend, also of Dublin had twenty-three to the boat, releasing 19 with their best at 3lbs. On Thursday, 27th taking part in a Fisheries Awareness Week event on Ballin Lough, Juvenile angler Ethan Barrett, Castlebar, caught his first ever trout to the fly following expert tuition from John Fahy and staff of the NWRFB who were providing free demonstrations of fly tying and casting on the shores of Ballin Lough.

Lough Arrow
Lough Arrow continued to fish well, with large hatches of Mayfly and falls of Gnat being reported in the afternoons. Visiting anglers Wim Schoors and Dirk Zonnekein, Belgium, enjoyed good angling catching trout of 1.5lbs, 3lbs and 4.25lbs with their fish falling to green dry flies and spent Gnats. Sean Dunne also had success on the spent Gnat with a fish of 2lbs while Michael Gunning had a trout of 2lbs to the Murrough. Shane Kelly, Clare, enjoyed a good week on Lough Arrow with nine trout coming to the boat, with his best 3.5lbs while Brian Kelly, Boyle had a great days fishing on the 30th, boating seven. The catch of the week, however, and quite possibly the season thus far on Lough Arrow was taken by Philip Murray, Co. Louth, who took a wonderful trout of 8lbs 3oz on the spent.

Ballisodare Fishery
Fishing remained steady on the Ballisodare fishery where over fifty salmon were caught for the week. Early in the week catches averaged 5-7lbs, however, by mid week, some larger salmon were caught including a 12lbs fish by Paul Brady, Galway, taken on the worm and a fine 10lbs fish taken on the fly by Anthony O'Sullivan also of Galway. Susan Simpson landed a nice 10lbs salmon fishing the worm while Oliver Dillon had one at 7lbs to the fly. Sunday 30th saw the appearance of some larger salmon, with a 14lbs fish falling to Richard Ryan and Neville Aston, N.Ireland, landing one of 12.5lbs on the fly. Local angler Anthony McCann had a double success catching one of 12lbs on the fly and a second of 9lbs on the prawn.

Sea Angling
As part of the National Fisheries Awareness Week, Belmullet Sea Angling Club in conjunction with the NWRFB and Broadhaven Bay Hotel held an introduction to Sea Angling on Broad Haven Bay on Sunday the 30th. Three chartered boat trips were organized and departed from Ballyglass Pier and a total of 19 juveniles and 15 adults took part. The juveniles were treated to fishing tuition onboard, and throughout the day, all participating caught a range of fish. Species boated included mackerel, coalfish, pouting, pollock, ling and one conger eel. A great day was had by all participants and once ashore, the juveniles were presented with a trophy for their efforts by the Belmullet Sea Angling Club.
