Ballin Lough

Angling at Ballin Lough remained steady over the week which is not surprising as it is the only game fishery in the region available at this time of year. Twenty three rods on the lough for the week accounted for 58 rainbow trout with 48 of those being released. Ronan Gibbons, Galway, had seven trout, the best at 5lbs while Dave Tucker had three fish, two released with his best at 3lbs. Frank Rigney and party, Galway, fishing ten rods had a total of 18 trout, all of which were released with the best of these weighing 5lbs.

The Black Pennel and Butcher have been taking fish but the best fly for the lough still appears to be the Bibio which has been accounting for the majority of fish caught.

Ballin Lough remains open until the 31st October.
