River Moy

Despite the recent rains, lowering pressure and increasing winds, the River Moy continues to drop and is near to summer level. Although more rain is forecast throughout the week, it will take a considerable fall to raise water levels.

Angling on the Moy remains slow but steady. However some notable catches have been reported. The East Mayo Anglers waters produced its first fish of the season for Ian Guegan who landed a fine 9lbs salmon taken on the fly and safely released it again. Jimmy Reilly also had success on the East Mayo Anglers water catching a 7lbs fish on the worm. Ballina Salmon Anglers water again proved lucky for some as Brendan McNamee had success, catching a salmon.

Free fishing continues on the Ridge Pool until the first salmon is caught there.

Lough Gill

Lough Gill hosted the St. Patricks Day Angling Competition on Tuesday, 17th March. The top prize of the day went to Victor Fabozzi who landed a nice 7lbs salmon while trolling a Toby spinner. Victor received the Patire Cup for his achievement.
